Excitement turns to anticipation

An-tic-i-pate   -   to imagine or expect that something will happen, sometimes taking action in preparation for it happening;

Yep that's us

The besties have their accommodation booked and final preparations have begun for our impending adventure holiday.

For something that seemed like it was a long way off with forever to wait, it is now just 4 sleeps away and boy are we excited.

Being the SCRUGAL lot we are, we have a menu planned and we all have our shopping lists. Cleaning out our pantries, finding hidden treasures we can take .... (2007 isn't out of date is it ?)

Fresh fruit and veg will be purchased along the way. Hoping bananas are cheaper in or near Carnarvon. Currently priced at around $12.00 per kilo, they have become a real delicacy.

Scroggin or Gorp ?

In keeping with the age old tradition of a bag of lollies for the road trip, I went in search for the more healthy option. I had never heard of scroggin before and apparently the name stands for sultanas, carob, raisins, orange peel, grains, glucose, imagination, nuts. Sounds healthy.

A google search for trail mix changed that idea when it brought me to Frank & Sue 's hiking website.

They have a very yummy Scroggin idea. Though not so healthy if you are driving and not hiking. I couldn't resist.

We have 18 little bags of assorted lollies ..there was 19 but hey... you have to taste test.

Now, I wonder how long the 17 bags last.

Catching that special underwater moment

Although it says we can, we really don't want to risk dunking a digital camera into the ocean, and dropping it when we come face to face with Jaws. So purchased a couple of these today. $20.00 each plus processing, doesn't necessarily mean cheap, but as we are not regular divers it seemed like a good idea to give these a go. It will be interesting to see how clear the shots come out using this film camera. We will try to be creative in the photos we take  and put up a review once we get the photos back.

Toolboxes, Indian Food and a poke with an Ugly Stick

Who'd have thought you could pick up Indian food from a restaurant named Asian Spice, but once the befuddlement was sorted, it was on to the toolbox meeting.  Winner  & fellow tags were eagerly awaiting to get things started over a plate full of delectable nibblies.

After first establishing that the minutes of the previous meeting were not available, the pros and cons of the trip were hashed out.  The ways and the wherefores were mapped with the help of the old and new. The new ipod & freebie speakers were given a trial run.

With the lists all done and each of us knowing what we are to bring,  it was time to get stuck into the main course. Butter chicken, lamb marsala,  a very spicy chicken dish, curried vegies, rice and noodles along with a couple of curry puffs thrown in.

Things took a bit of a delicate turn with a pink skirt and a big pink ugly stik, luckily security was right on hand, even though he spent most of the night undercover.

The Indian food was delicious and a few good laughs made for a very pleasant toolbox meeting.

Less than 2 weeks to go ....

Book em Dano ...

There's excitement in the air, the van is booked.
After much web searching and deliberation, being the frugal lot we are,  we decided to go with an 8 seater (car hire) rather than campervan hire. Unlimited kms was an added bonus.

How apt that we have been offered a KIA Carnival.

    Packing Poem

    An exerpt from Pam Ayres ;
    I'm packing for my holiday, I want to take enough
    Of cotton underclothing, swimming wear, sarongs and stuff.
    I take my own shampoo, conditioner and my own hair-dryer,
    I don't trust those hotel ones not to set your hair on fire.
    I take insect repellent, both the lotion and the spray,
    They make you smell of creosote but keep the bugs away.
    You only get one skin and I shall take good care of mine,
    By packing all this sun protector, factor ninety-nine.

    Holy Mackerel

    "She won" and now we're busy planning for our holiday.
